SUB ZERO TEMPS

Last night it got down in temp to -10 below 0. Of course this morning we had frozen water pipes. Worked and worked heating the line and no go. No cold water at the sink. We have water everywhere else. If the pipes burst, then I am so tired of this every winter, we will move the pipes into the house. Couldn't get the diesel tractor to start to bring in wood so we had to use the truck. We are both so tired of cold and exhausted trying to keep this house running and warm. We need to move to WA state. Shane and Kristi are riding their motorcycles now. I am putting in a picture of Kristi's new bike.

Winter is here

Boy have I been sick. Took a trip to Niagra Falls over Labor day on the motorcycle. Came back and had terrible pain in my back. It turned out to be not one but 3 kidney stones. One did come out but I am still stuck toting 1 around in each kidney. After weeks of testing they put me on a special diet of what I cannot eat anymore. Chocolate and Tea being the main ones. Thats bad. I love both. Then on to the next big health issue. I had a total Hystromecty Oct 15. I am just now getting back on my feet moving around. But still no heavy lifting or staying up long walking. It took alot out of me- like 8 lbs!! And if not for the incision, I feel wonderful. What pain I was in for years before that. You get used to the pain then when you don't have it, you just cannot believe how it got that bad. So, Our first big snow came Nov 20. We got about 8" and its been snowing ever since. At night it got down to 15 to 20 each night. Winter jumped straight into January cold and snow. I hate it, I hate snow and cold. I cannot be outside , cannot ride my motorcycle or be at the fish pond or in the garden. We really need to relocate south. I am working slowly on quilting projects that needed finished up. Pictures coming later.

Finally getting back on computer after summer boating and biking. First off, Shane is home on 2 weeks leave from Korea. Here is one of the largest, not completely the largest but one of the many Pacific salmon he caught. he is so happy to be fishing

Honda Shadow 600

I am now the proud owner of a new Honda Shadow 600. It has been over 20 years since I had a street bike and now with gas prices going so high, its time to get back to two wheels. Dirt bikes, (3 wheelers) were my entertainment in the 20 years but going back to pavement and street bike is a large adjustment. But it sure is fun while saving money

Another postcard exchange was to come up with an abstract. So, just turning 50 I thought why not do the abstract on objects that are in my life up to this point. Ice cream is number one. My first car was a green Volskwagen Beatle, Red purse and hat for turning 50 (Red Hat lady) Window is for the future and past. The background fabric is waves / water because I would rather be on the water than land.

Deep Blue Sea

This is a postcard I had to make for a Deep Blue Sea exchange. No fish or sea creatures. I put tiny sea shells from Cape Hatteras, NC that I had gathered up in Dec 07 while on vacation. The fabric is blue silk that has been folded and stitched w/ blue and greet lame' to represent waves and movement. I then stamped a light house over top this and it gave a kind of foggy/ distant look and finlly stitched different trims to represent seaweeds.
