Another postcard exchange was to come up with an abstract. So, just turning 50 I thought why not do the abstract on objects that are in my life up to this point. Ice cream is number one. My first car was a green Volskwagen Beatle, Red purse and hat for turning 50 (Red Hat lady) Window is for the future and past. The background fabric is waves / water because I would rather be on the water than land.

Deep Blue Sea

This is a postcard I had to make for a Deep Blue Sea exchange. No fish or sea creatures. I put tiny sea shells from Cape Hatteras, NC that I had gathered up in Dec 07 while on vacation. The fabric is blue silk that has been folded and stitched w/ blue and greet lame' to represent waves and movement. I then stamped a light house over top this and it gave a kind of foggy/ distant look and finlly stitched different trims to represent seaweeds.

Bookmark trade

Here are pictures of my bookmark trade from Fiber Arts Trader. Mine I traded are left over fabric pieces from my Crazy quilt lady Quilt that Patti, Lynn and I made. They are great for bookmarks. I used a piece of decorative trim tape for the top tab and one has yarns with fabric beads.

Marble fabric

Here are the marble fabrics I did. I want to use them for water, ocean sea scapes

Tie dye

Here are my favorites the tie dye done on unbleached muslin. I don't want to cut them. Some are the perfect green/ tan colors I will use for sand on beach sceens and the Desert Storm quilt I am working on.

Fabric dye & Marbeling class

I finally got pictures to post of my fabric dye classes last weekend. What fun. I was coloring anything that came my way. I colored up 20 yds of fabric. I hated cutting it into fat quarters and 1/2 yds but had to do it. I did manage to get some 1 yd pieces. You will see fabric dyed using unbleached muslin which gives a creamy brown tone effect which is my favorite and I also did fabric using bleached muslin which gives a clear, crisp bright color effect. The marbeling was a different. Some of those pictures are here also. For the marbeling I want to get fabrics representing water, ocean looks.
